About Placement UK: Student Internships & European Student Placements

Placement UK is the European Student Placement Organisation. We provide a specialised service designed to help the very best European undergraduates to find internships or placements in the UK. We place hundreds of European Students into UK businesses every year to gain invaluable practical experience, and provide employers with many benefits.

Students enjoy many benefits from their placements. They complete an essential element of their course of study; they add practical experience to their academic knowledge; they enjoy a rewarding cultural experience, both commercial and social; and they develop and improve their English language skills.

Placement UK offers universities and students an easy, secure and free way to internationalisation.

History

Placement UK really began in 1994 when a French marketing student wanted a placement in the UK. He found a small marketing company that was willing to take him on (our mother company). After a happy and successful 6 months he returned to his university, leaving the host company with a gap in its organisation.

Our mother company contacted the French university and arranged for another student to take a placement with them. Clients and colleagues were interested to hear a different accent on the telephone and wanted to know more. They were quick to realise the benefits that placement students might bring and asked how they could recruit students themselves. And so a business concept was born.

Over time the business developed, from finding students for those businesses that asked for them, to actually proactively looking for UK businesses who could offer placement opportunities to European students. In 2002, Placement UK became a separate business with its own management team, and in 2005 it became an independent limited company.

Today

Placement UK is now a mature business. It has hundreds of clients all over the UK – in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Although many are based in major cities – London, Birmingham, Manchester, Belfast, Edinburgh for example – there are also placement opportunities in small towns and rural areas too. And the client base varies from major international corporations to small private businesses; from accountants to engineering to e-commerce, and so on.

Through contacts with over 1800 University and Business Schools across all 25 EU member states, Placement UK receives hundreds of student applications each month. After appropriate screening and interviewing processes, students are starting their placements practically every week of the year.

The Organisation

Placement UK is a compact and focused team. It is led by Directors and senior managers who have over 40 years successful commercial experience gained across various industry sectors. They are supported by recruitment and HR professionals.

Of course Placement UK practises what it preaches, and there are always undergraduates working on placement to assist with marketing and administration.
